Center to Improve Social and Emotional Learning and School Safety (SEL Center)

Offers technical assistance to state and local educational agencies in developing and implementing plans to integrate social and emotional learning (SEL) into their academic programs and enhance school safety. Provides 3 tiers of assistance that range from general tools, resources, and information about SEL to working directly in extended partnership with educational agencies to develop comprehensive strategies to address SEL.

Offers an online course with 6 modules covering all aspects of emergency operation plans (EOPs) for K-12 schools. Provides training on EOP development, assessment, review, implementation, and maintenance. Helps schools prepare for emergencies and comply with all state and local requirements. Includes additional emergency preparedness resources for schools.

National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE)

Delivers information, resources, technical assistance, and training to K-12 schools and institutions of higher learning to assess school climate, implement evidence-based programs to improve learning conditions, and measure outcomes in 3 core areas: providing a well-rounded education, improving the safety and health of students, and improving the effective use of technology. Offers multiple products, policy guides, toolkits, research, media, online events and training related to issues of substance and opioid abuse for students, families, schools, and communities.

National Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Assists schools and school districts with the implementation of a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework to improve students' social, emotional, and physical well-being, reducing disruptive behavior, and creating a positive learning environment. Uses a multi-tiered framework that reaches all students while allowing for more focused intervention and support for at-risk students and students with disabilities. Includes resources and blueprints for implementing school-wide responses to the opioid crisis and substance use. Offers direct onsite technical assistance to district and state leadership teams as well as indirect assistance through online resources, national and regional conferences, and collaborations with other technical assistance centers and organizations.

Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance Center

Offers support services, technical assistance, information, and training to K-12 schools and institutions of higher education to help strengthen their emergency preparedness. Includes information and resources on the development of emergency operation plans, including how to prepare for opioid-related emergencies and support students dealing with substance use issues in rural and urban areas.

Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)

Creates community learning centers to run after-school programs for students in high-poverty or low-performing schools. Provides academic programs to help students meet standards in core academic subjects, like math and reading, along with a variety of enrichment programs, such as drug and violence prevention programs. Funding is awarded to states, who distribute grants locally through state grant competitions.
