Summarizes policy changes made by federal National Drug Control Program agencies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Outlines program and policy changes designed to ensure individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) can continue to safely access important treatment and recovery support services during the pandemic. Substance Use Disorder and the Pandemic in Rural Communities Rural Faith Leaders Workshop

Shares discussion on the intersection of substance use disorder (SUD) and the COVID-19 pandemic to help rural faith leaders learn and share information and resources to help individual and families struggling with addiction. Covers opioid misuse/abuse and COVID-19 in rural areas; the economic impacts of SUD on small communities before and during the pandemic; finding and using data to understand the problem in individual communities; helping faith-based and community leaders bring hope and healing to communities; and congregation readiness. First workshop in the Rural Faith Leaders Workshop series.
