Description

Provides training and technical assistance to help tribal jurisdictions develop new or strengthen existing healing to wellness courts. Offers up-to-date resources on effective, evidence-based strategies to address alcohol and substance use issues among justice-involved juveniles and adults in tribal areas using a treatment court model that incorporates culturally appropriate services, trauma-informed approaches, and traditional healing practices.

What This Program Offers

The Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts program can provide:

  • Customized on-site and off-site technical assistance for wellness courts
  • Regional and national training events, including annual implementation and enhancement trainings
  • Resource archive with key materials and resources on a range of topics related to successfully developing and operating a treatment court
  • Publications and a webinar series presenting current research, guidance, and best practices for wellness courts
  • National directory listing current tribal healing to wellness courts by state with contact information for each court
  • Information on upcoming Department of Justice funding opportunities

Who Can Receive Services from This Program

American Indian and Alaska Native tribes seeking to implement or enhance a healing to wellness court are eligible for assistance.
