AmeriCorps State and National Competitive Grants

Provides competitive funding to organizations that engage AmeriCorps members to build capacity, expand services, and help communities address their needs through service and volunteer activities. Focuses on the following areas: COVID-19 recovery, racial inequality, child poverty, economic opportunity, Economic Mobility Corps, education, veterans and military families, rural intermediaries, faith-based organizations, and healthy futures. Healthy futures emphasizes service projects related to substance use and prescription drug misuse through education, prevention, and recovery efforts to address the opioid crisis. Supports evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions, practices, and program models.

Rural Health and Safety Education Competitive Grants Program (RHSE)

Helps land-grant colleges and universities create community-based outreach and extension services to improve health and wellness in rural areas by offering reliable health, wellness, and prevention information to the public.

COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)

Provides low-interest loans and loan advances to assist small businesses, agricultural businesses, and nonprofit organizations facing economic impacts and a temporary loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 crisis. Loans may be used for fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that cannot be paid due to the ongoing pandemic.

Offers discounts to help schools and libraries with costs towards eligible data transmission services, internet access, internal connections, managed internal broadband services, and basic maintenance of internal connections.

Economic Development Assistance Programs (EDAP): Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program (PWEAA)

Supports the planning and implementation of economic development and revitalization projects in areas facing economic disruption and hardship, including rural and American Indian and Alaska Native tribal communities. Helps communities attract investment, create and retain new businesses and jobs, provide job training and education opportunities for dislocated workers, and enhance technology and infrastructure.

EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance

Provides funding for economic development programs to help communities and regions prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 crisis. Offers a wide range of assistance to address the impacts of the pandemic, including planning and technical assistance grants, capitalization/recapitalization of Revolving Loan Funds (RLFs), innovation grants, construction of infrastructure, deployment of broadband, and other development projects.

AmeriCorps VISTA for Project Sponsors Inactive

Offers organizations the opportunity to engage and sponsor AmeriCorps VISTA service members to help develop or expand community anti-poverty projects. AmeriCorps VISTA members commit to one year of full-time, volunteer service, helping to build capacity and sustainability in programs to address poverty and other issues identified by the community. Requires sponsors to operate and direct the project, recruit and supervise AmeriCorps VISTA members, and complete the necessary administrative support activities to meet the project goals. VISTA's fiscal year (FY) 2021 Healthy Futures focus area gives priority to projects that address substance use in low-income communities impacted by the opioid crisis through opioid prevention and recovery programs. VISTA FY 2021 priority populations and regions includes a focus on rural communities and Indian country.

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program Inactive

Provides funds to organizations to engage and manage individuals aged 55 and older for service projects implementing evidence-based programs and models to strengthen communities. Focuses on capacity building in six focus areas: disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and veterans and military families. Prioritizes funding for nine topics, including access to care for opioid abuse. Seeks to prevent or reduce prescription drug and opioid abuse through health education and increasing healthcare access. Offers seniors a variety of service activities and flexible work commitments, ranging from a few hours to a maximum of forty hours per week.

Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grants (Traditional DLT) Inactive

Funds telecommunication projects that support distance learning and telemedicine services to increase access to education, training, and healthcare resources for students, teachers, medical professionals, and rural residents. Emphasizes telecommunication projects that help rural communities foster economic and community development. Works to reduce substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid misuse, in high-risk rural communities through education, treatment, and counseling programs and services.
